Wireless Networking

Wireless Networking

Creighton University offers two different options for wireless networking; secure and non-secure.  The secure wireless options is called CUWireless, this options should be the preferred option for anyone performing work on the wireless network that they would not wish to share openly with others.  CUWireless includes authentication and encryption, only authorized (members of the Creighton community with an active Blue ID/password) can access this resource and all communications on the CUWireless network are fully encrypted to prevent others from sniffing or capturing and reading your wireless transmissions.

The second options is the non-secure option called CUGuest, this option should be used by guests of the Creighton community or those performing simple transactions such as web browsing.  CUGuest is open and available for easy and convenient use.

In order to use the secure option you will need to perform a one-time configuration of your device (laptop, iPad, etc.) to allow your device to accept the secure configuration.  The steps to configure your wireless device can be found here.

The following devices/OS's are Compatible with the CUWireless network:

iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch
Android Phone/Tablet
Windows Phone
BlackBerry

Windows 7
Windows Vista
Windows XP SP3
Mac OS X 10.5-10.8

Other wireless clients may be able to connect but directions are not available from Creighton at this time.  Older operating systems such as Windows 2000 or Mac OS before 10.4 may not be able to connect.  The DoIT Service Desk can advise you in upgrading to a current operating system provided your hardware can run it effectively.

The Service Desk can be reached at 280-1111 or by emailing servicedesk@creighton.edu
